Why does it say "upgrade required", and how do I upgrade my plan?

In short: Certain features and limits — extra donors, extra users, more active projects, or features like IT3(d) — need a paid (and sometimes annual) plan. To upgrade, open Settings → Subscription, pick a larger tier in the Manage Plan area, and pay by card or EFT. You need the Manage Billing permission.

You'll usually see an upgrade required or upgrade prompt when you've hit a plan limit (often your donor cap or user limit) or tried to use a feature your tier doesn't include.

How to upgrade

  1. In the top navigation bar, open the gear / cog dropdown and choose Settings.
  2. Select Subscription in the left-hand menu.
  3. In the Manage Plan area, review your Current Plan and the Recommended upgrade. Use View all plans to see every tier you can move to.
  4. Use the Monthly / Annual toggle to choose a billing period (annual carries a saving).
  5. Choose how to pay:
  6. If your credit covers the change, click Change Plan to switch immediately.
  7. Otherwise click Card Payment (or, on annual plans, EFT Payment) to pay the difference.

A successful change shows "Your subscription has been updated."

📌 Note: You can only move to a plan whose donor cap is above your current donor count; a smaller tier is refused with "Cannot change to this plan". If you can't see the Subscription menu item, you need the Manage Billing permission.
