Why aren't my certificates showing in IT3(d) Management?¶
In short: Three things usually hide certificates from IT3D Management → Section 18A Issued: they're non-compliant, you've got the wrong tax period selected, or your IT3(d) settings aren't complete. Work through all three and the missing certificates should pull through.
1. The wrong tax period is selected¶
The Section 18A Issued list only shows certificates whose donation date falls inside the chosen tax period. The IT3(d) runs twice a year, so check you've picked the right half:
- YYYY-8 — the interim period, 1 March to 31 August.
- YYYY-2 — the full tax year, 1 March to end of February.
If a certificate's donation date sits in a different period, switch the period dropdown to match it.
2. The certificates are non-compliant¶
Non-compliant certificates are missing details SARS requires (tax number, ID/registration number, address, post code, a recognised donor type, or a date of birth). They won't pull through as ready to submit.
- On the Section 18A Issued tab, set the Compliant filter to All (not just Yes) so non-compliant ones show too.
- Fix the donor details flagged on the highlighted certificates.
- They become compliant and can then be selected.
3. The IT3(d) settings aren't complete¶
If your IT3(d) settings panels aren't finished, the page blocks you with "Please complete the IT3D settings first." Complete all three — Submission File Header, Submitting Entity and Reporting Entity — and save each one.
📌 Note: IT3(d) submission also needs a paid plan. On legacy, trial or certain monthly plans the IT3(d) Management page shows an upgrade-required gate instead of the certificate list.
Common issues¶
| What you see | What it means | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| The certificate list is empty for a period. | No compliant certificates fall in that tax period. | Check the period dropdown and set the Compliant filter to All. |
| "Please complete the IT3D settings first." | A settings panel is incomplete. | Finish the Submission File Header, Submitting Entity and Reporting Entity panels. |
| An upgrade-required message shows. | IT3(d) needs a qualifying paid plan. | Upgrade your plan to submit. |
