How do I change a receipt's amount or date after a certificate has been issued?

In short: Once a Section 18A certificate has been issued for a receipt, only the amount and donation date lock. To change either, revoke the certificate first, then edit the receipt, then re-issue the certificate. Every other receipt field stays editable.

If you try to change the amount or date while the certificate exists, the save is rejected with "Error editing reciept amount. This receipt has a certificate issued." or "Error editing reciept date. This receipt has a certificate issued." (the misspelling is exactly as the app shows it).

Steps

  1. Open the receipt and find its Section 18A certificate.
  2. Revoke the certificate (revoking keeps a record — you'll re-issue it after editing).
  3. Open the receipt and click Edit.
  4. Change the amount or donation date as needed, keeping the project allocations totalling the receipt amount.
  5. Save the receipt.
  6. Re-issue the Section 18A certificate.

What stays editable

You do not need to revoke the certificate to change the receipt method, allocations, receipt type, the Section 18A toggle or the extra fields — only the amount and donation date are locked. So if you only need to fix one of those other fields, just click Edit and save.

📌 Note: A receipt with a certificate also can't be voided (deleted) until the certificate is removed.
